Help Save Big Cats

“We no longer have the luxury of time when it comes to big cats. If there was ever a time to take action, it is now.”
—National Geographic Filmmaker Dereck Joubert,
co-founder of Big Cats Initiative and
Great Plains Conservation

Through the Predator Compensation Fund the neighboring communities in the rural regions are educated and offered management over the human-wildlife conflicts in Kenya. Lion research and monitoring funding is generated from your visit.

Great Plains Conservation

Filmmakers since 1980s, Dereck and Beverly Joubert have based their stunning wildlife documentaries out of some of their most exclusive private game concessions across Africa. Guided Safaris® journeys have brought our safari guests on a front-row seat to these real on-ground adventures. The Joubert’s film, Game of Lions is currently airing on Big Cat Week on the National Geographic Channel.

Watch a sample video of their filming to see the places you’ll visit with us to witness this ongoing story unfold.

In 50 years lions have dropped in number from 450,000 to around 20,000. Leopards have gone from 700,000 to about 50,000 and there are fewer that 12,000 wild cheetah. Lions and big cats have been a passion for the Jouberts for 30 years: The Big Cats Initiative is an emergency action plan to protect these species and their habitat.
