A classic safari lodge, the original Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is one of the oldest residences in Rwandan safari experiences. Founded upon conservation and giving back to the land, the lodge is a 100% community-owned venture in partnership with the Rwandan government, The International Gorilla Conservation Program and African Wildlife Foundation, and has raised US $3.2 million from tourism socio-economic revenue donated to the SACOLA community trust, local custodians of Rwanda’s Gorilla rich forests. Designed as gracious country manors and rustic cottages on a hillside overlooking the volcanoes, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge appeals to a by-gone era in Virunga rainforest explorations. In the daytime, the gardens are filled with rich birdsongs and at turndown, the log fireplaces are set for perfect relaxation in a haven of cool mountain air.
