Wilderness Bisate Reserve is a new luxury safari lodge in Rwanda launched in September 2024. Nestled high in the rainforest at the edge of Volcanoes park in Rwanda, the most exclusive habitat for engaging with mountain gorillas, Wilderness Bisate Reserve combines high-end luxury and privacy. A large and spacious luxury safari lodge with only four sprawling villas ideally poised to capture the majestic views of the rainforest.
Only 6 Gorilla tracking permits are issued per group per day, meaning that your encounter is as intimate and unobtrusive as possible. With only a total of 96 permits available each day in Rwanda, it is highly recommended to book well in advance. Special Gorilla permits for primate viewing are a conservation initiative for the protection of the gorillas and primate species of Rwanda. With only a handful of permits issued per day, to limit the disturbance and impact to these fragile species, it is highly important to purchase the permits well in advance, and given the nature of this conservation fee the permits are strictly non-refundable and must be utilized on your confirmed dates or be forfeit. Maximum viewing duration for any group is 1 hour per day. The maximum number of guests present per gorilla group excursion is 8 persons. The minimum age for gorilla viewing is 15 years – this is for reasons of safety in following the guide’s instructions, but also for possible disease transmission by children, with persons under this age being more prone to infections thereby presenting a risk to the Gorillas. Again, to minimise possible transmission of human diseases, visitors are asked to maintain a distance of 7 meters (22 feet) from the gorillas. Guests who display ANY cold, flu or other respiratory tract symptoms will not be allowed to track gorillas. Please note that Gorilla permits are non-refundable under any circumstance.

Wilderness Bisate Reserve offers an intimate haven with four villas accommodating just eight guests.These luxurious sanctuaries feature two cozy fireplaces, outdoor hot tubs on the deck, a separate lounge for private dining, and ample space for dressing, unwinding, or indulging in a private massage. Each villa is the epitome of refined comfort, offering a space of over 2000 sq ft. Wilderness Bisate Reserve's Villas 1, 2, and 3 are conveniently situated just one level below the main area, while Villa 4, set further apart, is perfect for honeymooners or those seeking heightened privacy. Volcanoes National Park is a sanctuary to nearly half of the world’s remaining endangered Mountain Gorillas and is also home to the golden monkey, side-striped jackal, serval, black-fronted duiker, buffalo, elephant, tree hyrax, bushbuck, and Egyptian mongoose, with genets and squirrels inhabiting its lush undergrowth. While spending an unforgettable hour with the mountain gorillas is the crown jewel of any visit, many other thrilling adventures await within Volcanoes National Park. These include trekking golden monkeys, climbing Mount Bisoke, hiking to the ruins of Dian Fossey’s research center and her final resting place, or exploring the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
