Singita Kataza House

Singita Kataza House is an exclusive-use villa on the edge of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, the only villa this close to the habitat of the Mountain Gorillas. Set against the Sabyinyo, Gahinga, and Muhabura volcanoes, the house is built from volcanic rock, river stone, handmade ceramic tiles, and oven-red clay bricks made by the surrounding communities. Kataza House sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 suites, with a private chef and host, a heated pool, a wine cellar, and a cinema room, and every facility at neighboring Singita Kwitonda Lodge is at your disposal.

Individual pavilions gather around a central cluster of living spaces, each suite reached along landscaped forest walkways. Tall glass windows and wide sliding doors frame the grassland, the forest, and the volcanoes beyond, and the work of local stonemasons, weavers, and ceramicists sets the tone inside. Gorilla treks start with the 7am briefing at the park headquarters, 10 minutes from the house. Children of all ages are welcome, with a dedicated childminder while parents are out on the trek.
